This post is a bit of a departure from our normal adventures. My Sugar Sweetiepie and I were on a Hot Date, and we saw a couple of interesting things in our drive around town.
First, we went out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants, Carbonero Rotisserie on 11th Street in Huntsville. This ain’t no Tex-Mex place. They specialize in El Salvadoran cuisine. If you’ve never had it before, then you have to try the fried yucca. Think french fries, but a step up.
As we were exiting the restaurant, I saw an airplane flying into the Moon!
We were stuffed silly from our meal at Carbonero but decided that dessert was still in order; so, we headed over to Insomnia Cookies on Sam Houston Avenue. Insomnia Cookies is one of those perks granted to a college town like Huntsville. They bake fresh cookies and will even deliver them, late into the night. Imagine sitting up late studying or doing whatever things college kids get up to and thinking, “I’d like a fresh, delicious cookie, but I don’t feel like going to a bakery.” Well, Insomnia Cookies solves that problem! But it’s easy enough to just walk or drive up to them and get some cookies.
After getting a box of fresh, delicious cookies, I spotted a face in the tree we were parked next to:
Seeing faces in inanimate objects is an example of a phenomenon called pareidolia. I wrote an article about this effect in my other blog, Eastex Astronomy.
Look around you when you’re around town. You never know what interesting things are out there waiting to be found.
